A cable is only one part of the connection. The effective feature set is limited by the least-capable part of the cable, ports, charger, device, and any adapter or dock in the path.

USB-C identifies the connector, not a single cable feature set. A USB-C cable may support only a subset of the data, power, and display capabilities available to USB-C devices.
